Applied Computer Science Program
The college aims to qualify and train students by equipping them with technical skills on systems, devices, software, and technologies required by the job market through qualified faculty members, a system of labs, and training projects. Additionally, the college seeks to prepare students for the job market by bolstering the academic curriculum with real-world experiences to keep pace with the job market and acquire unique skills that students practice during their studies in collaboration with the college's partners in the public and private sectors. This enhances the knowledge, sciences, and technical skills acquired, preparing students to enter the job market with high readiness and competence; it also qualifies them to establish their own independent projects, contributing to the development of their country and providing job opportunities for themselves and others. The Applied Computer Science program is one of the academic programs offered by the college and includes two specialized tracks (Computer Networks, Web Technology) that help enable students to develop technical knowledge and acquire skills and the ability to practically apply them in a specific sub-specialty, along with proficiency in scientific methodologies and mastery of the skills required by the general program. Vision: To be an academically distinguished model that combines knowledge, skill, and application in the field of computer science. Mission: To prepare qualified personnel in the field of computer science through an academic environment that balances in-depth knowledge, technical skill, and practical application, and stimulates learning, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Objectives:
Program Outcomes: Graduates will possess computing skills and be capable of:
Employment Areas: Graduates can work in all civil and military government agencies and the private sector in the following areas or similar:
Program Tracks: The program includes two tracks:
Study System: Students must complete the curriculum courses, totaling 144 accredited study units over five academic years, each consisting of two academic levels. The language of instruction for specialized and basic science courses is English. Each student in the final year, along with some peers, executes a graduation project under the supervision of academic advisors. The program requires a six-month field training (a regular semester and a summer semester) at one of the college-approved entities to link academic studies with practical reality. The study system in the program follows the study systems and regulations in the unified regulations for universities in the system of the Higher Education Council and universities and their regulations. Registration and Admission Mechanism for the Preparatory Year and Transfers: Students are admitted to the preparatory year as part of the general admission for all university students. The choice of college and program is based on the student's desire and successful completion of the preparatory year requirements. Students can transfer to the program if they finish the preparatory year (scientific, engineering, and health tracks) and may transfer successfully completed shared courses studied in other programs. Students can transfer from the program to other bachelor's programs at the university according to the controls approved in the college or the programs intended for transfer.
